What are assessment centers?
A day-long evaluation with multiple tasks to assess skills and competencies to help recruiters evaulate how you perform in real-world, high-stakes situations.
Once an applicant has successfully passed the CV screening, interview and aptitude tests, they will be invited to in person assessment centre.
These assessment centres are used for both summer internship candidates and degree apprenticeship applications. Our mock assessment centres are specifically tailored to roles in Corporate finance and banking.
What does an assessment center include?
Each firm adjusts their assessment center exercises to their own needs and role requirements. The most common tasks include group exercises with a presentation of your findings, 1 to 1 interviews, and in-tray exercises.
What do recruiters look for at each stage?
Group projects- Recruiters assess how effectively you collaborate with others, contribute ideas, and navigate group dynamics under pressure. They're looking for teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills, as well as your ability to communicate and listen actively while working towards a common goal.
In tray exercise-This task evaluates your time management, prioritization, and decision-making abilities. By simulating a real-world scenario, such as managing a tight budget and looming deadline, recruiters want to see how you handle competing priorities and whether you can stay calm and organized under high pressure circumstances.
1 to 1 interviews - These are your opportunity to showcase your individual achievements, skills, and motivations. Recruiters look for clear, confident communication, a deep understanding of the role and company, and thoughtful responses that demonstrate your ability to reflect and adapt.
BONUS - Cognitive tests - These tests measure your logical reasoning, numerical ability, and problem-solving skills in a timed setting. Performing well demonstrates your ability to think critically and make quick, accurate decisions—key qualities for thriving in high-pressure environments.
